A man needs a deeper understanding of why these longings govern him—and why God made him just like that. These desires are good and natural and were placed in your heart by God.   And he needs a deeper understanding of why women long to be fought for, to be swept up into adventure, and to be the beauty.

What if? What if those deep desires in our hearts are telling us the truth, revealing to us the lives we were meant to live? God gave us eyes so that we might see; he gave us ears that we might hear; he gave us wills that we might choose; and he gave us hearts that we might live. The way we handle the heart is everything. A man must know he is powerful; he must know he has what it takes.

The story of Return To Glory / Wild at Heart boot camp is one of men encountering God and experiencing breakthrough, freedom, and strength restored.   This is not a retreat about the “seven things a man ought to do to be a nicer guy.” It is an immersive quest into the recovery of a man’s masculine soul, the release of a man’s heart—his passions and his true nature—all given him by God. It’s an invitation to rush the fields at Bannockburn, to go West, to leap from the falls and save the beauty. For if a man is going to know who he truly is as a man, if he is going to find a life worth living, love a woman deeply, and not pass on his confusion to his children, he simply must get his heart back. 

Return To Glory Basic is a collection of Wild at Heart Boot Camp videos from John Eldredge and his team. The content and presented materials are the exact same as a live Boot Camp experience, which have been restoring the hearts of men, in partnership with the Holy Spirit, since 2002.  The Return To Glory team will be supplementing these videos with live presentations as well, sharing their experiences from years of living in this message that we call "The Larger Story" which we started in 2008.   The Boot Camp is composed of video/live sessions, time alone with God, and play time, all to nourish our souls.  Our team will be sharing their stories live as part of the sessions,  and in optional breakout sessions addressing the key points of John's teaching.  

Speaking of "play time":  There will be long breaks on Friday and Saturday for adventure.  Anchored Camp offers all kinds of water adventures.  Laser tag!   We may have a guest helicoper on site with rides.    And of course we have campfires in the evening, where we gather to share our stories, bring our questions, and begin to form bands of brothers.  https://anchored.camp/

A beautiful, serene retreat center: 

Camp Anderson ANCHORED, on the Suwanee River is a spacious relaxing campus.  Activities include canoe trips, laser tag, hiking and all kinds of games both indoors and out.  The pool or river is available to cool off if it gets hot.  The auditorium is situated on the bank of the Suwannee River with garage doors that slide up for an open air yet sheltered experience.    Its 116 miles down through Perry, about 2 hours from Tallahassee.   In the city of Old Town Florida.

Standard rooms in the cabin.  Some have 4 bunk beds but we attempt to get the older men in bottom bunks.

I am on Fire! I am on the mountain top! I have seen the face of God!

The Wild At Heart [experience and journey] has made me search the depths of my heart. There were dark and disheartening things in there. Abandonment wounds rising fresh and new from my divorce last year. Replays of fear, loneliness, and powerlessness from my childhood growing up with a mean drunk. Spirits telling me I am a failure because of the status of my family and the things my kids are doing. This retreat opened these wounds wide. It put them on full display in all their gory details. It was hard and painful to see and feel, because these wounds were mine. But then God! As I lifted these wounds up to Him, I could feel the soothing care of Jesus healing them. He is caring for my heart and gently told me I am released from these spirits. This experience was so powerful, so emotional, and even so energy draining that I nearly missed the rest of the sessions.  

I lapse in my ego.  And forget who I belong to.  I forget that I'm in an Epic Love Story Set in a World at War.  That I was given gifts from God to fight with Him.  I lapse into my ego and start trying to save the world and I fail at that.  When I fail I escape in procrastination or depression.  Jesus holds out his hand and lifts me back up! But glory be to God! For he brought me news from home that brought me tears of joy. A great and loving act was being done by my sister! Oh the gratitude just flowed in and washed over me. It was overwhelming. The joy and gratitude brought me strength and energy to continue the work of the retreat. And boy am I glad, because God was not done teaching me.

John Eldredge and the men laid the scriptures bare before me in a way that I could understand and relate to. I was finally given the authority and the permission to stand and act in the name of Jesus. He (Jesus) told me I do have the power and authority to command the angels in His holy name, and through His righteousness that was proven for me through His strips, His death, and His resurrection. Oh how mighty that power is! To cast down demons and crush serpents! To cover my friends and family and all my domain in His protection. And even to cover me and minister to me!

I am anointed! I am loved! I am the man God created me to be! No more shame and guilt. No more fear and hiding. I am ready and eager to risk it all to be part of His story! Thank you God for the invitation and the initiation into your heroic saga!

I cannot express to you and your team how much I received from the retreat. I am very encouraged and strengthened by all I learned.  I am dedicated to continue the journey I began through this new understanding I gained about the spiritual warfare we fight.  The one most important part for me I learned was about the agreements I made both consciously and unconsciously throughout my life. Now, I know where they came from and how to make corrections to those agreements that have caused me to take and make choices against the goals I wanted for my life through Jesus. I don't even think words can explain what that camp did for me! It was amazing to be around other believing men just learning and healing together. There was just a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that I gained from this experience with the Lord Almighty. Even that night when I ended up playing pool with the guys ALL night. I didn't know I needed that so much. It was like water to a man in the desert. I used to be in a pool league. I was on a couple of teams. The men and women became family. I had to forsake them and follow Jesus. So it was the Lord saying I know son but remember you gave that up for me.. I'm crying as I just wrote that. He sees my sacrifice and gave me a night of fellowship with some amazing guys! We laughed and danced. It was the cherry on top of the Sunday. He resurrected me there. He is still rolling stones!! I will absolutely be encouraging other men to attend in 6 months. It is so awesome to see that this last weekend is not only making a difference in my life but my companions' life as well. He could not stop talking about how glad he was I invited him.  God spoke to me this weekend through my quiet time. My last quiet time on the dock, the waves were really kicking up with no boats around and I felt strong wind in my face. I really felt the presence of The Holy Spirit. Thank you for literally saving me. Long way to go but I am being aware of where I am still looking for my validation and promptly denouncing it. Same with all the agreements that are from the enemy.
